Why is natural leather suitable for furniture? It is pleasant, soft, flexible and soft to the touch, it has an extremely long life, it is easy to clean from dust, so it is also suitable for allergy sufferers. It is easy to clean and with proper maintenance, its properties improve with age. You can read about how to easily maintain natural leather on upholstered furniture in the following lines.

After a long production process that starts with the conservation of the hide and ends with quality control, the hide becomes the leather we used for your chairs. Even after processing, the leather remains a natural material. On the seats of your leather chairs, you can find wrinkles, brand marks, healed scratches or scars from brushing against barbed wire fencing or branches and insect bites. This is what is valued in leather furniture and makes leather chairs original.

If you opted for chairs upholstered in leather, you have obtained products in the most luxurious design. Such chairs will serve you well for many years and their properties will not change even after a long time. The properties of natural leather can even improve over time.

There are several types of leather, from aniline leather, through nubuck to semi-aniline leather and pigmented leather. For chairs upholstered in leather, we most often use semi-aniline leather and pigmented leather. Due to their high resistance, these types of leather are the most suitable for use on seating furniture. These two types will be described in terms of their cleaning and maintenance.

During the production process, the leather acquires protection against deterioration and is treated against bacterial attack and repels moths. However, even the highest quality leathers we use must be properly maintained.

Upholstered leather furniture fades over time due to sunlight exposure. Therefore, it is advisable not to expose leather chairs to direct sunlight. Due to the effect of dry air, the leather dries out and loses its elasticity. That is why it is advised to regularly clean and protect the leather.

Leather does not like extreme temperature changes either. Therefore, you should keep the leather upholstered chairs in the area with stable temperature.

It is not correct to use only water to clean leather furniture. Water in large quantities causes the leather to harden and crack. Therefore, it is also not a good idea to put wet clothes on leather-upholstered chairs. Just like wood, also leather is a natural material and that’s the reason why also leather requires care. For furniture maintenance, we offer our own range of products for care that have the best long-term results.

How to care in the best way for leather-upholstered furniture?

Remove fresh stains and dirt using clean cotton cloth or sponge damped in distilled water. Gently rub the stain with a sponge in circular motions. Do not press the sponge unnecessarily, it will not help in cleaning the stain. Carefully dry the area with a cotton towel and absorb excess liquid with a paper towel. Do not use products available in common stores, as they may make the stain larger.

Regularly use leather cleaning and care kits to maintain leather chairs and other furniture. This way, the leather upholstery will remain supple.

Quality leather care set contains two components. The first component is a foam cleaner used to clean your chairs. With this cleaner, you can easily remove dust, dirt and dark jeans discolouration. Do not apply the foam cleaner directly on the leather. Apply the foam to a sponge and clean it with circular movements evenly from seam to seam of the upholstery. After cleaning, wipe off cleaner residue with on the upholstery using a soft, clean and slightly moist cotton tissue included in the package. Repeat the cleaning process if necessary. Always remove fresh stains and soiling immediately. Leave the cleaned leather chairs to dry for about two hours. When the chairs are completely dry, you can continue with the care component (impregnation).

The second component will keep the leather upholstery soft and durable and protect it from wear. Firstly, use a light clean cotton cloth to see, how the leather is dirty. Always clean the upholstery before applying the treatment component. Apply the treatment component to a cotton cloth and spread it evenly in circular movements over the entire surface of the upholstery. After treatment, allow to dry for 12 hours and do not sit on the upholstery during this time. For leather used from time to time only application is enough. For leather in constant use, the process can be repeated. For practical reasons, we recommend cleaning the upholstery in the evening, and in the morning, you can fully use the chairs again.

Depending on the intensity of use and sunlight, the leather treatment is recommended two to four times a year.

What should be avoided when cleaning leather chairs?

Do not steam clean your leather furniture. Steam cleaning dries and hardens the leather. We also do not recommend the use of various wax balms. These balms revive the skin in the short term, but at the same time they are harmful to it, damage it and change its colour. Do not use detergents, soaps, sand or other abrasive or chemical agents for cleaning.

With proper maintenance, leather is the best material you can choose for upholstered chairs.
